Another great day! I shaved 15 minutes on my pick up time and we had a Doorstep Dairy delivery. Kendall decided he needed a break tonight so no Tae Kwon Do. I make a Hello Fresh chicken dinner we both loved and prepared dinner for tomorrow night, too. Kendall watched PBS Kids (and practiced saying it!) and his trombone. He is planning a concert for the Abuelos visit.
Buenas noches!
No matter how one receives a child, it is a miraculous gift from God. Once upon a time, there was a family of one. This family was blessed but had an open heart and home. By choice, we have become a family, first in our hearts, and finally in breath and being. We are an open family and hope everyone with ties to Kendall Alejandro or Allison Elizabeth stay in touch.

Tae Kwon Do and SpongeBob Friday
Great teamwork Friday night to have dinner, feed/walk the animals and make it to Tae Kwon Do on time. We stayed for the United Sports Community night. We waited to see if Marcus and their family were going to be able to make it but alas they had other plans. No worries since we planned to stay to watch The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water. I was pleasantly surprised - it wasn't awful. The plot follows Burger-Beard the Pirate who steals the Krabby Patty secret formula using a magical book that makes any text written upon it come true. SpongeBob, Mr. Krabs, Squidward, Patrick, Sandy, and Plankton must travel to the surface and confront Burger-Beard in order to get the formula back. And it emphasized teamwork. A fun family night.

Much Ado About Nothing Thursday
by Request by Kendall since I love Shakespeare :-)
- In this Shakespearean farce, Hero (Kate Beckinsale) and her groom-to-be, Claudio (Robert Sean Leonard), team up with Claudio's commanding officer, Don Pedro (Denzel Washington), the week before their wedding to hatch a matchmaking scheme. Their targets are sharp-witted duo Benedick (Kenneth Branagh) and Beatrice (Emma Thompson) -- a tough task indeed, considering their corresponding distaste for love and each other. Meanwhile, meddling Don John (Keanu Reeves) plots to ruin the wedding.

Tornado Tuesday and Wednesday
The tornado came up suddenly on Tuesday. We rushed home, took care of the animals, had dinner and we're ready to walk out the door for Tae Kwon Do when the storm arrived. We all (including the animals) ended up in the basement. Played Sorry! (Kendall's favorite game) and slept together since we lost electricity.
Wednesday, Kellie came and I went to work. But the YMCA did not have electricity so I and to head home. No Summer Camp today :-(
We did years work and went for an early dinner at Wegman's. A fun Tae Kwon Do lesson before heading home. We saw the the beginning of the test for the next belt to get excited :-)
Buenas!
P.S. Everyone still ended up sleeping with the :-0

Judicial Tuesday and Rizzoli & Isles
My second day serving Jury Duty. I was Juror #11 but I was not chosen. This was very interesting since this was my first time with 'Voir dire'.
Voir dire (/ˈvwɑr ˌdiər/) is a legal phrase that refers to a variety of procedures connected with jury trials. It originally referred to an oath taken by jurors to tell the truth (Latin: verum dicere), i.e., to say what is true, what is objectively accurate or subjectively honest, or both.
While we waited to be called I resumed a book I put down a while age - Blood, Bones and Butter: The inadvertent education of a reluctant chef. The author, Gabrielle Hamilton, was reported to have a affair with her sister's husband and I put the book down. Blood, Bones & Butter follows the chef Gabrielle Hamilton's extraordinary journey through the places she has inhabited over the years: the rural kitchen of her childhood, where her adored mother stood over the six-burner with wooden spoon in hand; the kitchens of France, Greece, and Turkey, where she was often fed by complete strangers and learned the essence of hospitality; and the kitchen of her beloved Italian mother-in-law, who serves as the link between Hamilton's idyllic past and her own future family. Unflinchingly honest, moving, beautifully crafted and funny, this is a rollicking, passionate story of food, purpose and family.
I sat in the jury seat as part of the original 14 next to a non-practicing lawyer. He picked all the folks that the lawyers would want to be thrown out. After we were all asked the same questions, I was replaced after the first round. I came home to a Rizzoli & Isles Marathon so I was very happy!
We made it to Tae Kwon Do and Kendall has what he needs to learn to test for the yellow belt.

Don't Go Away or Don't Go Away Brother
A film by Kendall Radwick.
He actually told me Friday morning that he wanted to be an actor. He was going to tell his story and act in the film. He first told me it was scary and sad and title was Don't Go Away then he said it was Don't Go Away Brother. It made me cry. I hope it has a happy ending - I didn't ask him where the story ended. Or maybe that will be the sequel with a happier ending.

We watched and loved this movie - cheering to the end! Inspired by the 1987 true story, 'McFarland, USA' follows novice runners from McFarland, an economically challenged town in California's farm-rich Central Valley, as they give their all to build a cross-country team.

How To Write A New Book For the Bible
Yes, we went to see this with Miss Pam and Deb and were lucky to see Pastor Carlson and his wife.
Buenas!
Plot Summary: Bill Cain, a professional writer with deadlines, moves from New York to Syracuse to care for his feisty, strong-willed, charismatic, and loving mother who is suffering and dying from cancer. When he follows the age-old advice to “write what you know” and writes about his own family, he discovers that sometimes those we are closest to are the biggest mysteries of all. Although the play makes big jumps in time and place, Bill narrates the story of the final six months of Mary Cain’s life – from the pain in her back, to her diagnosis of terminal illness, to her eventual decline and death. Throughout the story, Bill explains the present with past episodes involving his brother Paul, father Pete, and mother.
Who's Who
Bill Cain – The narrator of the play, a professional writer and Jesuit priest, “the scholar” of the family.
- Mary Cain – Bill’s mother, a frail but determined 82 year old who loves sports and her family, and believes there is nothing you can’t do if you put your mind to it and have God on your side.
- Paul Cain – Bill’s older brother, “the athlete” of the family, a Vietnam Vet who remains haunted by his role in the violence and death of the war, currently a high school math teacher living in El Paso, TX.
- Pete Cain – Bill’s father, dead of inoperable pancreatic cancer, now a ghost figure that advises and supports his wife Mary through her illness.
The Sons of Cain & The Lost Epistle of Paul
As part of his novel How to Write a New Book for the Bible, playwright Bill Cain explores his relationship with his family in two unique and intriguing ways.
He chronicles major events in the family’s life in the style of the Old Testament, specifically echoing the biblical story of Cain and Abel, in a piece entitled “The Sons of Cain.”
He also recounts his brother Paul’s experiences in Vietnam, and how he and his family reacted to those, by sharing many of his brother’s letters home. Cain titles the piece, “The Lost Epistle of Paul’, deliberately evoking the letters of the original apostle Paul.
We loved it!
