ExcipientFest in Baltimore again and A Single Shard

A fun dinner at John's Pizza without Miss Pam, Miss Deb, Kendall and myself. Great food, conversation and an early birthday celebration for Miss Pam. Then on to People's Light Theater for the regional premiere of A Single Shard from the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Robert Schenkkan (All The Way, The Kentucky Cycle), an inspired adaptation of Linda Sue Park’s Newbery Award-winning novel. Every piece of humanity has a purpose in this powerful and uplifting story about an orphan who strives to become a master potter and scales mountains to find his true home. Seema Sueko directs an all-star cast (including Broadway veterans Thom Sesma and Greg Watanabe) in this magically theatrical event for every generation.

And it was magical with a standing ovation. If you are local this is a must see.

Buenas noches!

Flat Stanley heads to ExcipientFest in Baltimore, MD

I was not feeling well but Flat Stanley and I still traveled to ExcipientFest in Baltimore, MD. A very warm day. It was an uneventful ride into Baltimore but I followedc the GPS and was stuck in traffic in Conowingo, MD at the Hydroplant.  I rerouted then had to pull over 3 times for fire trucks and detour again on Route 10. Then I was relieved to be home! It stormed and we ended up with a double rainbow. Kendall is learning Mary Had A Little Lamb in his piano lesson today. I was down for the count after today :-)

Feliz Lunes - Be open to whatever comes next…

Breathe, trust, and hold the space open for the U N I M A G I N A B L E to flow into your experience. Stop trying to plan your life and let life live through you.

Honor the space between no longer and not yet...  The waiting...the meantime... The in-between. It all serves a purpose. Trust the process. Even the delays and plot twists.

The useless days will add up to something. The crazy jobs. The hours writing in your journal. The long meandering walks. The hours reading poetry and story collections and novels and dead people’s diaries and wondering about the purpose of life. THESE THINGS ARE YOUR BECOMING.

Buenas noches!

P.S. Flat Stanley went to Croda in Edison, NJ then United Sports Tae Kwon Do in Downingtown, PA. Busy fellow 😊

Youth Sunday

A great Youth Sunday! Kudos to both boys for helping at both services and extra special kudos to Marcus for stepping to help. The reward - Burger King - their choice 😊

Then back home for done outdoor fun. Marcus went home about 5 pm and we prepared for the week. Kendall worked on nessy.com for a bit and I tried to set up for one of our busiest weeks yet. For me Edison, NJ then Baltimore for 2 days then Take Your Child to Work Day and Kendall goes in his class trip to Hersheypark on Friday.

And Cordelia in her happy place - on all fours outside for hours guarding our property. It's hard to believe she will be 13 next Sunday!

Buenas noches!

Hijacking Marcus for a Sleepover

Sleeping in and a nice long walk with Clark this morning. Then we cleaned and organized for Jesus and Me and the sleepover with Marcus.

We stopped by Marcus's house and his mom was having a Pampered Chef party. I bought some things online and we picked up Marcus. He was not packed so he did it quickly. No worries since we have plenty of clothes at our house.

Games, a lesson about love from first Corinthians, cutting felt hearts to pass out the congregation tomorrow and pizza.  We also hard practice for Youth Sunday.

We headed home and the boys played outside until about 8pm.  After they were ready for bed, they picked the movie Big Trouble in Little China. And, of course, the iPad and Kindle.

Buenas noches!

Friday Fun

We are glad it is the weekend! Kendall played with neighbors and ended up having dinner with them and we are getting ready for the big sleepover with Marcus tomorrow!

Third Stripe of the Yellow Belt Earned and GratiTuesday

A very busy night of eating very quickly and heading out to United Sports for Kendall's test tonight. Just as we arrived, I remembered Kendall's written portion was left on the dining room table :-(  I dropped him off so he wouldn't be late with instructions to tell them I would be right back. I drove back home, picked up the form and headed back out. Clark and Cordelia were very confused and displeased. I turned in the form and paid for the test.  There were no seats so I went outside the room to watch. I wish I would have been there while Kendall tested. He had the best test ever completing all of the tasks extremely well. Mr. Fox took a moment in front of everyone to look only at Kendall and tell him that 6 months he could not have done what he just did, how far he has come and how far he can go.  Everyone clapped.  After the test, Mr. Fox came to find me to tell me that he 'nailed' his test tonight. Estoy muy orgulloso!

The Abuelos were able to see the stripe and belt changes at the end via FaceTime and Kendall talked with them again when arrived home.  We were both excited tonight

Soulful Sunday

Catch up on some art, honor roll again and a lazy day.

Buenas noches!

Can we watch Shakespeare today?

Uhhhhhhhhhh, yes!

I feel like an accomplished parent. Kendall asked this en route to therapy, A great therapy session where he was an incredible architect and after we went to Burkholder in Honey Brook to order a Class Three hitch for our 2015 Honda CRV. We made it after they were closed but we were lucky in that they entertained us after noon. The hitch is ordered and we are excited!

Home to relax and Much Ado About Nothing.

Buenas noches!

Thoughtful Thursday

Please read a well written article To the Woman Who Thinks Adoption Will Make You Happy.  It won't. You will experience happiness - don't misunderstand the title - but you will also experience dirty, messy, sad, betrayal (perhaps not yours), abuse, you can't fix everything, they have their own story and you do too - both are important and how they intertwine, they will struggle with self worth, shame, control and identity, they are always in search of their birth family in some shape or form and the search is not a rejection to the adoptive family, they want a family to belong and loved, adoption is hard on everyone - it's not natural but it makes you stronger, advocate for us because we need it and be there forever. No matter what age we are we need you.

It will only make you want to help more children and share more of yourself.

And a wonderful phone call with my sister. Tyson is going well.

Work Wednesday

Flat Stanley for cousin CJ and Paperwork for the Kendall's Tae Kwon Do a test. Nice dinner of pork, mashed potatoes and spinach. Kendall does not like spinach but I do :-0   He did have a few bites. We completed the Flat Stanley questions so we are ready to send the questionnaire back to CJ. Kendall did a fantabulous job! We also sent a photo of the Liberty Bell in Philladelphia, PA; Baltimore Inner Harbor, Baltimore, MD and Rehoboth Beach, DeE.

Buenas noches!
