STRIDE 5k

The culmination of a fun fitness and running program for boys in grades 3 through 5 to exhibit excellence in character in all aspects of their lives, make healthy choices, and build confidence by leading them through a curriculum that incorporates fun activities and running.

Carlos was not feeling well after an add in shift so Mom stepped in. I walked and ran the 5k an Kendall did a great finishing 8 minutes ahead of me. A great therapy appointment and fun with Ty and the new battery operated car.

Why are you home so early?

I worked 11:30am to 8pm so Kendall rode the bus to school. Today was beach day so he brought his Costa  Rica towel and baseball cap, wore shorts and had his sunglasses. Today was also the 3rd grade picnic. He had a great time!

He also rode the bus hipbone and Nikki met him at the bus stop. They played with neighbors, rode bikes and had a war with LEGOs hence 'Why are you home early?' since they were having so much fun. They even played for another 1/2 after I arrived home :-0

One more day to Friday :-)

Last homework packet done and we finished The Buddy Files: The Case of the Lost Boy (Book 1). He started the book with Abuela Linda in California. The book is about a dog whose first family went away and never returned. Buddy ended up in the pound, where he was adopted by a boy, Connor, and his mom, who coincidently live in his old neighborhood. Buddy, who enjoyed sleuthing with his original owner, is now trying to solve the mystery of his missing family, a mission he will pursue throughout the series. First, though, he has an immediate problem to solve: Connor has disappeared. Buddy tries to find him, relying on methodical reasoning and unexpected assistance from a cat who can read. Buddy tries to overcome dog-to-human communication obstacles, the numerous distractions of delicious smells, and Connor’s reluctance to love Buddy as he deals with changes in his own life. We want to read Book 2!

Buenas noches!

Peace Dr. Maya Angelou

I had the opportunity to hear her speak in when I was a graduate student at the University of Connecticut. She was an incredibly courageous, inspiring and wise person.

Kendall drew a 2 part very imaginative picture story. And Kendall's So You Think You Can Dance audition us below :-0

Buenas noches!

Happy Memorial Day

The last Monday in May is the day when the United States celebrates Memorial Day. This holiday was originally called Decoration Day due to the practice of decorating graves of soldiers. It is a day of remembrance for those who have died serving America. Kendall is very interested in joining the military especially the Marines.

Marcus is in the videos popping front and back wheelies. I think he was inspired by the motorcycles last night :-)
Buenas noches!

Feliz Cumpleaños a Mí

Highlights of my birthday (and they are many - it was a stellar day!):

  • I awoke to gospel music on WRTI and I was able to listen and enjoy it.
  • Kendall, Marcus and I went to McDonald's for breakfast after discovering Marcus was allergic to eggs. He does love cereal.
  • We all went to church and Sunday School where my class sang me a wonderful version of Happy Birthday I didn't know: After the final " Happy Birthday too you! Cha cha cha! Ooh La La! Pizza! And Marcus wants to stay over every Saturday night so he can go to church and Sunday School with us every Sunday.
  • Lunch at Famous Dave's for Habanero Fried Chicken, which I have been wanting to try but it is only served on Sundays. We ordered a habanero fried chicken platters. The chicken is marinated in habanero buttermilk, spiced, and fried to a golden brown. We all liked it and had plenty of leftovers!
  • Green bands all around for Kendall, Zachary and Marcus at the pool.
  • KSR MotorSports 2014 Night of Fire and Destruction - An evening of high-flying, flame-filled spectacle with monster truck and motorcycle thrills at LuLu Shriners Arena in Plymouth Meeting, PA. This also included a remote controlled monster truck competition between Marcus and Kendall and others. Kendall's truck is red, white and blue and Marcus's truck is green. Neither one won but they had fun.  Monster Truck Ride.
  • A wonderful video from Kevin, Eduardo and Kattya in Spanish wishing me Happy Birthday.
  • Another sleepover for Marcus :-)

Marcus said this was the best night ever - and I admit it was pretty good :-0

Buenas noches!

Kendall, Marcus (and Zachary)

They played all day on their bikes, with LEGOs and we went on a Takis run :-)

Marcus is sleeping over and this is Kendall's first overnight. They are sleeping on the air mattress in the basement and we are watching a Spy Kids movie in 3D.

Buenas noches!

Cassie and Gary's Wedding!

Our first wedding! I had the day off and had the car serviced, worked on a refinance for the house, picked up my 6 month mammogram prescription and did some food shopping. Kendall rode the bus and was picked up early. As an aside, there was an incident earlier this week at recess that Kendall did not tell me or his teachers about.  There was a fight between him and another boy.  The other boy started it and hit Kendall and Kendall threw the second and fourth punch in self defense. Kendall did not get into trouble but the other 2 boys (one other boy who was a friend was written up also but I am still unclear why) were written up. We talked about walking away and getting a teacher to help. Also to get another adult if the first doesn't help. I told Kendall he needs to me everything - he didn't tell me because he thought he would get into trouble. All is well!

We had a fabulous time at Cassie and Gary's wedding! Miss Claudette met us at 2pm so we could get to Elizabethtown on time. A beautiful ranch, horse drawn carriages and wagons, an enchanting outdoor wedding, horse and pony rides(Kendall rode the horse in a suit several times - oh, and he was the first child to ride), ranch buffet, divine lighting for the barn reception, an incredible group at Table 15 and great music for dancing. Kendall asked many questions and is now a wedding expert :-). Pastor Mueller reminded us that God is here to celebrate this special day.

Cassie, Gary and Lena:

This is your love story, come true... Your journey of marriage begins with 'I DO' Cherish this bond, it belongs to only the two of you. Start each day with gratitude and compassion for each other, and unconditional love will follow. Believe in each other; support each others dreams. Remember to dream together too. Always give more than you think the other needs. Say, 'I love you' and 'thank you' every day! Trust, respect, and appreciate each other. Be spontaneous, be fun, be romantic! Stand together, but let there be space in your togetherness. Know when to listen, to talk, to let your heart feel. Apologize. Forgive and forget - doing so will make you feel better! Work together. Play together. Pray together. Allow God to be the foundation of your marriage. You have been chosen for each other... it is His plan. With each passing year, you will grow closer together, drawing strength from one another ... and two will become one. You will be blessed with the greatest happiness in life, To love and to be loved................Bonnie Mohr
