Clark Kent Proofing the House...

We were lector and acolyte this morning and then headed to pick up a gate for the basement so CK can't get to Kendall's LEGOs. We also did a little food shopping. Kendall took CK for a long walk before lip inch. After lunch, Kendall played with Zachary. We had a thunderstorm so the boys watched The LEGO Movie. It poured again when Kendall rode Zachary home so we were both soaked from when I went to pick him up. We cleaned up a bit and relaxed :-)

“As soon as I saw you, I knew a grand adventure was about to happen.” ― A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh

We had a great therapy appointment today. We brought Clark Kent and I played in the yard with him while Kendall talked to Miss Alba.  Then CK, Kendall and myself went to PetSmart to pick up a few things. CK did a great job in the car and in the store.  Zachary and Ty were here for a bit. After dinner, we took CK for a long walk.  We finished reading Runaway and watched the movie :-0

Buenas noches!

TGIF

Kendall had his first trombone lesson and learned about breathing and using the mouthpiece. He had a 1/2 day so Miss Darby met the bus and stayed with him until I came home at 4:30pm. Zachary came over and they had fun with their bikes. We relaxed the rest of the evening.

Work Wednesday

I worked day/evening but Kendall took the bus in the morning and Miss Darby met the afternoon bus and stayed with Kendall until I ame home. I had a lab appointment, stopped by PetSmart and headed into work early to help for training coverage. When I arrive home, Kendall was ready for bed and had a great time!

Feliz Lunes!

We all survived back to school and work and CK was pretty good in the crate. We are working on interacting with Cordelia, the cats and other dogs. Tonight we are using water guns and a spray bottle so we'll see if this works. Kendall forgot his Spanish homework last week so a lot of Spanish today and discussion of what he needs to do to keep up this year. We did not have English, Math of Science tonight but we are going to read a book :-)

The boy and his dog :-0

After getting Clark Kent settled, he and Kendall slept through the whole night together. I was up early to take care of the cats, Cordelia and get dressed then we took Clark Kent out. It worked very well.

We went to early church service this morning and Kendall was acolyte and I was the lector. It was my first time serving behind the altar since Kendall and I came back.  We are a great team!

CK survived 2 hours in the Crete then Kendall played with Clark Kent for most of the day. Kendall learned ride the scooter while walking CK. Then CK pulled him on the scooter :-). Clark is very tired tonight! The cats and Cordelia are still acclimating with CK but that will take time for everyone to get used to each other.

I was able to get yard work done and plan dinner. A great day!

I love you Clark Kent

Busy day! Therapy appointment at 9am in Delaware then PetSmart after to get ready for Clark Kent. We were lucky to have someone help us with a crate, toys, collar, halter, leash, food, ID tag  and chew bones! Then we went to Taylor Music to rent a trombone.  Of course, Kendall played with Zachary and Ty the rest of the day and we received word in the afternoon that we are Clark Kent's forever family.  We picked him up tonight and Kendall is doing a great job managing Clark. Clark fell asleep on Kendall on the way home and Kendall told Clark 'I love you, Clark Kent.' Clark is not used to cats and we are slowly introducing Cordelia.  A lot of new changes that will take some time.  Kendall is excited to have Clark sell with him!

Buenas noches!

Feliz Viernes!

Application submitted to adopt Clark Kent. The bus is still 35 minutes late but today Zachary stopped by the house so we waited for the bus together. Kendall was thrilled and had a great time playing with Zachary.

Meeting Clark Kent...

I appealed my tax assessment today and we ended up with a slight decrease.  Every little bit helps!  The bus still continues to be late but it seems they have first few weeks to work the bugs out. We had our hair cut and then went to meet Clark Kent. He is a 9 month chocolate lab/pug mix and is adorable.  Kendall loves him and we decided that we are Clark's forever family.  We are filling out the paperwork and hope to take him home soon.

Buenas noches!

Middle of the week...

The bus came at 5:08pm. Kendall played with Ty for a bit. We had a nice dinner and cleaned up a bit. Kendall even vacuumed!

I had a wonderful surprise from a family I helped with childcare when I was in Junior High and High School...

Greer wrote: "Day 2 of the gratitude mala I am the oldest of 4. Today I am grateful for each of my three siblings. I love them for all of our differences and similarities, but most of all for the blood that binds us.

1. I am grateful for my sister, Drew. I do not tell her that I love her enough. We are complete opposites and we can fight like cats and dogs, but she is still my sister and she was my only sibling for almost a decade. When we were little, we once told our great-grandparents' neighbors when they asked if we were twins, that we weren't but when we got older we would be! Irish twins are as close as we got. We drove our babysitters nuts (Kathy McGuiness and Allison E Radwick), trampled through the Acres with Bianca Rose VirgilioAndrea Virgilio SchlembachHeather Pedler, and Kathleen Davenport, and truly had a magical childhood together.

2. I am grateful for my brother Brent Thompson. I remember how excited I was when he came home after his birth. Drew and I couldn't get enough of him- we would hold him, diaper him, feed him, and even dress him up like a girl! There isn't a day that passes without thinking of him. He was quick-witted, funny, and pure-hearted. He would have been 28 on August 28th…I am simply blown away how quickly time passes. I'm blessed and honored that he is now my Spirit Guide and teaches me when I journey to other worlds. The light of the soul never diminishes…

3. I am grateful for my brother, Wade Thompson. The baby of our Thompson clan is all grown-up. He is a sweet husband to Danielle and an amazing dad to his son Grove( and will also be to his future daughter). Quite frankly, he is more responsible and mature than I ever thought possible!!! I am so happy he doesn't only eat chicken nuggets and candy anymore. We have a timeless, unspoken understanding and bond. We never fight. I can talk with him more comfortably than any other member of my family. We are both fire!

I nominate my sister-in-law Danielle Thompson and my "big sister"Ellen Lee Mackenzie to pick 3 things that you are grateful for each day for the next 7 days and choose 2 people to share your gratitude with each day!"

All About Me bag

The bus was only 35 minutes late today :-) We'll see by Friday how close it is to time we were given. Kendall made his All About Me bag by himself. He picked out all of the items and the photos. We are watching the 2nd Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie. We expect homework tomorrow.

First Day of 4th Grade at Collegium Charter School!

I dropped off Kendall at 6:30am in Exton and made it to work by 7:15am! I left work early but let Darby meet the bus since that was our plan but the bus came an hour late :-(. I did call the bus company to check on the bus and was told the bus left late from school and combined with traffic added a lot of extra time. So the bus arrived at 5:37pm instead of 4:37pm.

Kendall had a great day.  The other children (except for 2 girls) in his class do not know that he speaks Spanish, too.  The girls realized in Spanish class that Kendall knew some Spanish words :-)
We did some math and relaxed tonight. He did use a calculator after doing 3 problems by himself. What a great day!

Tricky Thursday

Only because Kendall and I had a tight schedule! I was off since I am working Sunday. So here was our schedule today...

Kendall being dropped off at Aviation Camp at 8am where I bought him a discounted remote controlled plane for him to practice today and tomorrow
Car appointment at 8:30am
Flynn and O'hara so I have 3 days of uniforms and one laundry day mid-week
Food shopping
Gas
Live Continuing Education Webinar
Trash and Recycle
Class Package for Collegium
Picked up Kendall for Meet the Teacher night at Collegium
Meeting almost all of Kendall's teachers :-)

All was smooth until I picked him up from camp. A few boys gave Kendall a hard time today and he hit one of them. We talked about walking away and that that hitting is not a choice unless it is self defense. So he had a castiga tonight which was that we did not go back to Aviation Camp for the hot air ballon ride for family night. He made a cool name tag and propeller car that works! We tried it out while chatting with the Abuelo. We actually wouldn't have had time to go back since we chatted with several of his teachers. We loved all of his teachers and are excited for school on Monday!

Hump Day

The absolute BEST day of the week, the day of maximum hope that maybe, you might make it out of this week alive.  Kendall had his field trip today this morning and he had trouble getting up.  He does not always acknowledge me when I talk to him especially if  it is something he does not want to do and I do not always give him enough time to process everything. So we had a little argument where Sons need this and Moms need this. And all was well.

I worked late again (last night!) and Kendall had a great time at the Air and Space Museum! He gas started to build his airport and LOVED the simulation rides :-0

Buenas noches!

Tame Tuesday

A busy day since I worked a little later. The Abuelos asked if it was Tame Tuesday and for the most part it was. Kendall was excited to bring home this Starhawk rocket that they flew today in camp. Wednesday is his field trip to the The National Air and Space Museum.

Manic Monday

Nikki took Kendall to Aviation camp and I went to work. About 10 am I had a phone from the camp that Kendall's lip was painful and oozing. I secured a doctor appointment, picked him up from camp, brought him to the doctor's appointment where we learned everything was fine and I had diagnosed and treated correctly, brought him back to camp and I went back to work. I stayed until 7 pm to help cover an evening shift.

Kendall is feeling better, loves aviation camp and was even doing homework with Nikki at the dining room table when I arrived home :-) We are tired!

Mom - when were you born?

I worked Sunday and Kendall spent the day with Nikki. He was fine lwhen I gave him a good-bye kiss this morning but when I came home he had a huge cold sore on his bottom lip. We started hot salt water to shrink it and Bactroban ointment. I thought I had the worse cold sores but Kendall has me beat. What a warrior since he applied hot salt water for almost 2 hours!

We watched the Teenage Mutant Turtles marathon on Disney. A meteor shower and rare supermoon illuminated Sunday's sky.The Perseid meteor shower is an annual event, with nearly 100 shooting stars passing through the sky each hour. The supermoon though is fairly rare. Supermoons happen when the moon orbits 30,000 miles closer to Earth, making it appear significantly brighter and larger. Sunday's supermoon was the largest of 2014 alone.

Kendall asked me when I was born tonight. I told him Memorial Day Monday May 25, 1970 at 7:10am. He asked me if I knew the time he was born and I told him I did not. So we decided he was born Wednesday July 28, 2004 at 00:00 so we will celebrate the whole day :-)

Aviation camp starts tomorrow - we are excited!

Buenas noches!

Work Saturday

I worked today and Kendall had fun with Nikki. We we are winding down finishing The Poisedon Adventure. It is a remake from the 1972 film. The plot centers on the SS Poseidon, a 135,000-ton state-of-the-art luxury cruise ship from Cape Town, a South Africa to Sydney, Australia.
On New Year's Eve, a bomb planted by a terrorist explodes. A second bomb is planned to explode, but was earlier dismantled by sea marshall, Rogo. Because water is now entering only one side of the ship, it tips over throwing many people to their deaths. As the ship continues to tilt, the centre of gravity on the ship causes it to flip completely into an upside-down position. The doctor, Ballard and a nursing student, Shelby, help the many passengers and crew are injured, crippled, or killed. Ballard's arm is seriously injured. A small group of survivors, including Shelby's mother, prepare to escape the sinking ship through the hole left by the bomb. The cruise director convinces most survivors in the ballroom to stay, telling them the ship is not sinking. Shelby decides to stay and help the injured, but knows her mother and younger brother need to leave before it's too late. The others leave the ballroom as Shelby's mother promises to leave traces where the group has gone. They then painfully depart and Shelby waves to her mother with a bloody hand as episode one ends.
Episode two begins with the navy realizing that the S.S. Poseidon has gone missing, and they send out a rescue team. Shelby, the rest of her family and Ballard decide to follow her mother.  As they leave the ballroom, a huge amount of water rushes into the ballroom, killing everyone who didn't listen to follow them. Meanwhile, Rogo's group splits up with Rogo taking the terrorist into deeper water to question him, while the rest of the group continues on the path to rescue. Rogo meets up with Richard's group and they all meet up again in the area where the bomb exploded. The debris is too packed to get through. When the navy arrives, their explosives make it even more impossible to get out that way. They are forced to go through the engine room to detonate the other bomb and blast their way out. As they cross a fiery abyss left by the engines on a fallen cat walk,  the terrorist die as the others escape. They find the other bomb, detonate it and successfully open a hole in the hull. The survivors jump into the water, swim to nearby rescue boats. The survivors watch as Poseidon sinks.
Kendall does not want to take a cruise and thinks it is faster and easier to get off an airplane :-)

Last day of YMCA Camp

Somewhat Back to Normal Thursday

Kendall was a little sun burned today! He forgets to put on his sunscreen so we talked about reapplying the sunscreen during camp. Tomorrow I'll make sure he has plenty of sunscreen for his last day of camp at the YMCA. He is enjoying Competitve Swim Camp and Wet and Wild Camp but that is a lot of time in the pool. He also complained of dry lips so we started with extra lip moisturizer today, too. He everything he need in his bag but he doesn't remember to use it! He also had a little shoulder injury from playing the pool. He is OK but his shoulder hurt a bit.

He played with Ty for a bit while I made dinner. After dinner, we read not 1 but 2 chapters of a the Mouse and the Motorcycle since it was so exciting. We have 3 chapters left to finish then we will watch the movie. Kendall did some Math before he took a shower. We applied cocoa butter and we had fun talking about him smelling of chocolate. We made ice cream sandwiches and were off to bed.

Buenas!

Busy Wednesday

Kendall at camp, Cordelia to the vet for X-rays of her heart (all is well for now), Kendall's unifirn is ready for the first day of school, food shopping done and we topped the evening off with a therapy appointment and FaceTiming with the Abuelos. They had a fun adventure traveling home.

Buen viaje Abuelos!

The Abuelos headed home today. We missed them the second they left! I came home from work early sick today. I vomited several times and tried to relax in the afternoon. I am feeling better and I think it was something I ate.

Kendall and I did lots of homework and read another chapter from The Mouse and The Motorcycle. We also talked about sex tonight. I used Dr. Laura Berman's Handbook to talking to kids about sex and we had a great discussion about anatomy and sex in general. And if you know Kendall well there were still lots of specific questions :-)

Buenas noches!

Kendall's First Savings Account and Competitive Swim Camp

What a day! The Abuelos and I did a lot around the house while Kendall started Competitive Swim Camp and All Sports Camp. All of the animals went in for a ver appointment today. All are OK but Cordelia may be in the beginning stages of heart failure so she will have x-rays this Wednesday.

Tonight is the last night with Abuelos. We opened a Kendall's First Savings Account, finished most of his school shopping (minus his uniform), ate at Peace A Pizza and are watching Speed Racer (Kendall's Choice).

Buenas noches!

Family Reunion Day 2 - Hermanas

Aunt Lucille was not able to make it to the reunion Saturday so Sunday we came to her in Eastport. Abuela Linda enjoyed catching up with her sisters, Lucille and Joy, together. Kathy was there in spirit. Primo Richie and Mina and stopped by!

We then headed to Williston Park to visit with Abuelo Ricardo's sister, Honey. What a great visit as well. Kendall spent time with Will playing video games and we were able to see Will's mom, my cousin Cynthia and her daughter, Amanda.

By the end of Sunday, we were home in Pennsylvania :-)
