Snow Day!

Although it was not snowing when I woke up, school was cancelled.  I felt bad calling out of work but if I made it in, I wouldn't have been able to get back home. Kendall slept until 7:30am and was very excited there was no school!  At 9am the snow started and continued until about 6pm.

We made a solar car today (Kendall is fascinated by the solar homes in our development) and learned about the Blue Angels and USAF Thunderbirds and enjoyed grilled cheese sandwiches! There was a lot of wind and snow in the morning and early afternoon and we headed outside about 2:30pm. Kendall was itching to get outside! Kendall had great fun with sledding competitions the neighborhood children while I worked on cleaning off the foot of snow on the car and driveway. We were out for about 2 hours.

Kendall was covered in ice and soaking wet so I sent him to get changed. He enjoyed a party in the tube and requested that I take a video of another battle.  We watched a Meet Mike Knight video and are now watching Journey to the Center of the Earth TV Mini-Series. Kendall us fascinated! We ventured into the center of the earth, to a land where dinosaurs still roam and the threat of danger is always looming. Dr. Theodore Lytton,  a daring and courageous scientist, heads and expedition to find the missing husband of the rich and beautiful Alice Hastings. Joined by his bright, but inexperienced nephew, Jonas, and the trailblazing guide McNiff, the team descends into the sweltering, unknown depths of the earth. In this underground world, where fierce dinosaurs thrive, they find the forceful and enterprising Casper Hastings reigning over a primitive human civilization. Having made enemies with a neighboring village, and also with the Sauroids, a race of manlike reptiles, Casper's people are on the verge war. In their quest to return to the surface, the team's lives are threatened by savage tribal warriors, bloodthirsty raptors, and the fearsome Sauroids.  We didn't finish watching it all and ended our night with Cloak and Dagger. Kendall loved it! 11-year-old Davey, whose mother is dead and whose father is preoccupied with his own problems, has retreated into a world of video games and an imaginary hero-pal, the swashbuckling superspy Jack Flack. When an FBI agent about to be murdered slips him a video cartridge containing top-secret data, Davey is suddenly plunged into the intrigue and danger of real-life espionage. No adult believes his story, so he must run a gauntlet of violence and villainy aided only by a younger girl and the encouragement of "Jack Flack" at his side. How long can a comic-book role model guide him through this encounter with reality? The film ends with Davey reunited with his Dad and Davey insisting he no longer needs Jack Flack because he has his father.
