Feliz Lunes y Springton Manor Farm

Today Kendall had the field trip to Springton Manor Farm he was supposed to have last Thursday when it rained (and if you remember he ended up with a Parental Feedback Form for bad behavior). We had been there once before for a Sheep Shearing Day and had a great time.  He had fun today as well. It is home to many friendly farm animals: goats, horses, sheep, pigs, unique breeds of cattle, a miniature donkey, rabbits, calves, chickens and peacocks.  His favorite was the donkey!

On our drive home, we somehow ended up talking about our full names in our family and Kendall understands that the naming in US is different than in Costa Rica. In the US, the parents pick the first and middle name for their child and the child takes the father's last name. Married women can take their husbands’ name or continue using their maiden name and have the option to add his name to hers. In Costa Rica, through time, the middle names have disappeared. It is now very common for children only one name. Costa Rican women do not take their husband's last name.  The woman uses her full maiden name for life.  She also adds her mother's maiden name. The old Spanish naming convention added a  "de " to her husband's name. In Costa Rica,  a person's name consists of a given name followed by two family names (surnames). The first surname is usually the father's first surname, and the second the mother's first surname. So in Kendall's case his name was changed to Kendall Alejandro Radwick Radwick. We decided 2 Radwick's was excessive so he only has 1 Radwick and Kendall loves Abuelo Ricardo's middle name - Cornell :-)

We met our new neighbors and they have 2 and 4 year old boys. Kendall is excited to have more children in our cul-de-sac to play with and of course, check out their toys.  The boys were fascinated with Cordelia and Cordelia not so much with them. Welcome Ray, Stephanie, Ty and Zachary!

We put the alphabet in order and I numbered cards from 1 to 20 for him to put in order and then tell me what the numbers were in English.  He then did abcmouse.com for a 1/2 hour before a shower and SpongeBob.

Buenas noches!
