Pantomime, also known as Panto, not to be confused with the theatrical medium of mime, is a form of musical comedy stage production, designed for families. It was developed in the United Kingdom and mostly performed during the Christmas and New Year season. Modern pantomime includes songs, slapstick comedy and dancing, employs gender-crossing actors, and combines topical humour with a story loosely based on a well-known fairy tale. It is a participatory form of theatre, in which the audience is expected to sing along with certain parts of the music and shout out phrases to the performers. While the familiarity of the audience with the original story is generally assumed, plot lines are almost always 'adapted' for comic or satirical effect, it being common for characters and situations from other stories to be interpolated into the plot.

We had a wonderful time and it had a bit of everything from singing with actors, helping them decide what to do, volunteering on stage, having candy thrown at us and booing and cheering when we didn't like or like what was going on. Kendall lived the man dressed as a woman. Many thanks to Shannon for the ice cream at intermission. We are tired :-)
